What is LOCKERSPACE?
Lockerspace is an online video sharing community, inspired by a family who loves sports and sharing stories. We have created a unique and fun site to showcase your athletic talent and interest in life through the video you create.
Is Lockerspace only for athletes?
 Absolutely not! Lockerspace is for everyone who loves sports and sharing the activities they are involved in. |
Will LOCKERSPACE always be free?
| Lockerspace will always offer a free service. We are looking at ways to give you additional cool features, so watch for Lockerspace Pro coming soon. |
How do I upload a video to Lockerspace?
Go to the upload page, or you can click the 'Upload Video' button on the bottom of the home page. That will bring you to the upload page where you can upload your video. Make sure you have read the Terms of Use rules for what kind of video you can upload (only ones you make yourself or featured in). Click the “Browse” tab and select the file you want to upload from your computer, then click 'Select'. You will see a progress bar showing you the status of the video upload.
**Note: slower connections and large files will take longer, so please be patient!
**After you video is finished uploading, it will say “your video has been uploaded successfully”. Now this is where you need to be patient, depending on the file size, it goes through a conversion process. |
What are the recommended settings for uploading a video?
There is no easy way to tell you how to upload videos because there are so many factors: a good strong internet connection, file size limitations, and some know-how on the workings of your video software,camera and computer. However, below we have given you some guidelines for compressing your videos for Lockerspace, so look over these tips, find the corresponding settings in your software, and you should be able to make it work for you. If you can not find these setting in your editing software, try looking under "Advanced" or "Options" when exporting
Codec
• Choose H.264 for the video codec. Choose AAC for the audio codec.
Frame rate
• This is usually 29.97 for USA/Japan/Canada, while in Europe and rest of the world it's usually 25. If there is an option that says "current" just go with that. Please note that Lockerspace converts all HD videos only up to 25 frames per second in order to optimize playback performance.
Keyframes
• Every 30 frames. This is basically how often the compressor references your uncompressed video.
Data rate
• 1800 kbits/sec for standard definition 4:3 video , 2500 kbits/sec for widescreen DV, or 5000 kbits/sec for high definition. Making these numbers higher will increase both quality and size.
Size
• 640x480 for standard definition 4:3 video, 872x480 for widescreen DV, or 1280x720 for high definition. It is also best to export 1920x1080 or 1440x1080 video as 1280x720 too.
Deinterlace
• Yes. If you do not deinterlace, you will often get weird-looking horizontal lines in your video.
Sound sample rate
• 44.100 kHz
Audio quality
• You want audio with a bit rate of 128 kbps. You can set your audio to really high quality without increasing file size too much.

What should I do if it doesn’t work?
| Try, try, and try again! If you still are experiencing problems, try holding down the shift button on your keyboard and pushing the reload button on your browser. This helps reset the cache in your browser which most of the time fixes the problem. If it still is not working, quit your browser, reopen it and try again. |
Can I use Lockerspace for my business or for commercial purposes?
| Lockerspace is for personal, noncommercial use only. Members are allowed to have their own personal website, but will be required to pay a usage fee for directing user to a commercial website. For more information, please read the Terms of Use |
How do I get my video featured as Highest Ranked Video?
| Videos are rated by the members on Lockerspace. We encourage members to rank videos that you view, let that individual know how cool you think their video really is! |

Are there limits on file sizes or file types for upload?
| Lockerspace accepts a wide variety of video files and formats up to 200 MB in size. Even though we recommend high resolution Mp4 and Mov files for best results, our servers will still accept video files with extensions 3gp, Avi, Flv, Mpeg, Mpg and Wmv as well. Please note that certain file types such as Avi or Wmv have many variations due to different audio and video encoding methods utilized. If you find that your video does not play properly or cannot be processed at all, please try another file format. We recommend Wondershare or Windows Movie Maker on PC and Roovid Lite on Mac for capturing or converting video files. |
What is the maximum video length?
| The maximum video length right now is 20 minutes. |
Can I upload more than one video at a time?
| No, you may only upload one video at a time. |
How many videos can I upload?
| For now, basic users can upload a single video not to exceed a maximum of 200 megabytes per file, with a total of 2 GB. Once you have reached your maximum video limit, you will need to delete a file to upload more videos. |
What is compression? Should I compress my videos before uploading them?
Yes, depending on the file, compressing a video reduces the file size. While it can take time to compress a video, it will be a faster upload, and also a faster download for anyone you choose to share the original file with. By compressing the videos before uploading to Lockerspace, you will be able to upload more files!.
***Please note: There are a million variables in video compression. Sometimes, even though a file type has been successfully uploaded by the Lockerspace uploader, the Lockerspace conversion will fail. How do I compress my video?
How do I share a video with my friends and family?
| Lockerspace has made it very easy. There are several ways to share your video, either by sharing to a selected email address, sending it to a friend's phone or embedding it on a selected website. Once you have become a member the tools are available to you. Take your mouse and move to the control buttons on the bottom of the video player. The third button from the right click and it brings up the sharing tools on the side of the video. Pick which ever feature you desire and share. It's that easy! They will receive an email with a link to your video. That's it! |
Someone is using a video I uploaded to Lockerspace without my permission. What do I do?

How do I view photos from my social networking sites?

Can I edit my videos once they are uploaded?
| Sorry, but it is not possible to edit you video on Lockerspace. This needs to be done prior to uploading to Lockerspace. |
Why can't I see some people's videos?
| One of the nice features of Lockerspace is that you control who sees your videos. Some people choose to make their videos private. |
UPLOAD
Simply put, uploading video is sending your videos from your camera or computer to a website. When you upload, you send your electronic data or file from your own local system to another system - such as Lockerspace.
Stop and think before uploading images. Some mobile devices will allow you to upload videos straight from the camera on your phone to Lockerspace. This will be an exciting new feature, but stop and think about what you're putting up before posting. Be sure that the videos uploaded are appropriate without sexually explicit material or identifiable characteristics that would allow someone to find you in the real world. If an image violates Lockerspace’s Terms of Use, the content and the profile will be deleted.
Can I add information while the video is uploading?

My upload stopped or got stuck at a certain percentage. Why can't I upload to Lockerspace?
My video progress bar jumped to 99% or 100% right away, but my video didn't upload. What do I do?
| Be sure the file name doesn't have any spaces or symbols in it please see our recommended compression settings for the best settings for you. |
I am having trouble uploading a video, what should I do?

Why is my video taking so long to upload?
| There could be a number of reasons. Be sure you're exporting your video to our recommended compression settings , and close any other programs on your computer that might be interfering with your upload. |
What types of video files does Lockerspace allow?

I uploaded my video but the audio is out of sync, how do I fix that?
| Read over our recommended compression settings, delete your video and try again. If you video is over 20 minutes, we recommend breaking your video into multiple clips on your video editor before exporting your video in order for your video to have multiple references to the audio track. |
Hey what happen, I uploaded a 16:9 (widescreen) video but Lockerspace smashed it to 4:3?
| Lockerspace uses square pixels when converting your video. You will need to export your videos with square pixels and manually set your aspect ratio to 872x480 for widescreen DV, or 1280x720 for high definition. Read our recommended compression settings for more information. |
Can I upload a video with any aspect ratio I want?

Can I upload any kind of video I want?
| Lockerspace is for personal, non-commercial use. Please only upload videos you created yourself, you are featured in, or have been given copyright permission from the owner of the original video. My video failed during the upload process, what do I do now?
| Read over our recommended compression settings and try again. When exporting your video, be sure to choose the option to deinterlace. That will get rid of those pesky lines. |
Lockerspace doesn't recognize my file extension, but it is one of the file formats accepted. What can I do?

What happens if I upload a video without editing any information?
| This is actually a very important part of the video process. You are required to create a "Title" and choose a "Category" before Lockerspace will allow you to upload. This is the time to decide who gets to view your video. If you do not edit, the video will be public. We highly recommend that you fill out a description of the video so that it is easily found. By using tags you also increase the amount of people able to find your video. Remember, you can go back and edit any video, and add or delete information. |
PRIVACY
Lockerspace Tips
- Don't forget that your profile on Lockerspace is public. If you choose to have a public profile, Lockerspace has no control over who views it. Don't upload or post anything you wouldn't want the world to know.
- Lockerspace privacy settings allow you to control access to the content you post. However, once posted the settings can not control what and where the content goes. Lockerspace can not keep someone who can publicly view your videos from copying them or sharing them with others. If this is a concern please take advantage of the settings we provide and restrict access to your content only to the people you trust.
- Remember Stranger Danger! Be smart about letting strangers view your private videos.. It's fun to connect with new friends, but avoid meeting people in person whom you do not fully know. If you must meet someone, do it in a public place and bring a friend or trusted adult.
What do the different privacy settings do?
Public videos are available to anyone on the internet.
Private videos allow you to choose from a list of your friends who can view your videos (and do not appear on any public listings or search results). |

Why would I make my videos private?
| Sometimes you just want to share them with your closest friends and family, and not the whole world. The use of the privacy options give you complete control over who sees your videos. |

What are tags?
| Tags are important keywords or terms that describe your video. Let's say that you just upload your football highlight video and you tagged it( football,ty,chaparral high school) you'll be able to easily find other related videos and it makes it easier for other Lockerspace users to find your videos. |
Is there a limit on the number of tags I can add to a video?
| You are limited to 20 tags on your videos. We encourage you to limit your tags to exact descriptions. It is best to put short descriptions, followed by commas. Try not to use too many tags, they can sometimes make your video harder to find. |
Why should I tag my videos?
| This is the best way for you to find like videos, and having users find yours. Now that's exciting! |

What does 'embedding' mean?
| Embedding is when you take your video-or anyone else's-and post it on a web page outside of Lockerspace, possibly your own!. |
How do I embed a video into another site?
| While a video is playing, to the right side of the video just click on the button labeled 'embed' that appears when your cursor is hovering over it. A screen will pop up with an embed code, copy and paste the code into your website or wherever. |
PROFILE
Do I have to have a Lockerspace profile?
| Yes, every user has a profile on Lockerspace and will be required to fill out certain information. The reason for the required information is for the search engines to work efficiently. We recommend that you upload a picture (avatar) of yourself and share as much or as little as you wish. By filling out your profile you can add the social sites that you would like to connect with and your mobile phone number where you can receive notifications. This is a very interactive community and people love to share! |
How do I edit my profile?
| Once you have logged into your account, you will be on "My Page". At the top navigation bar to the right, click on "My Account". This will take you to your settings page where you can edit your profile, password and notification settings. Once you are finished updating your information, make sure to click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page. |
What should I write in the 'Bio' section?
| A video can say more than a thousand words, but a few words can change the whole picture, Share something about yourself, and give your page a personality. What sports do you like? How do you spend your free time? What kind of movies do you like? Where are your favorite vacation spots? You get the picture! |
What is that bazaar face and how do I upload a picture of my own?
| No one really likes seeing silhouettes, so Lockerspace requires a portrait image. Until you upload a personal portrait, this is the default image that Lockerspace will use as your avatar or portrait. Trust us, people would rather see you. You can replace this at any time by clicking on "My Account", then edit "My Profile". Click on "Browse" and choose your portrait from your computer. It's that simple!! |
Can I change my screen name?
| Once you have logged into your account you will be on "My Page". At the top navigation bar to the right, click on "My Account. This brings you to your settings page click on edit "Profile". Why do I get so many emails from Lockerspace?
| You have control on the amount of notifications you receive from Lockerspace. You can receive notifications about new uploaded videos, comments, new profile pictures or new members. |
How do I change my email notifications?

| Yes! Facebook Connect links your Facebook and Lockerspace accounts together so that your Lockerspace likes and uploads will show up on your Facebook newsfeed. To connect your accounts, go to" My Account", this will take you to your settings page. Click on "My Account", then 'My Profile" and click on "social links" tab. You can also add My Space, Linkin, Twitter, and Flickr. |

What is a Lockerspace Group?
| A Group is a community that you or another member creates within Lockerspace. You can join and add videos and comments. This is a great way to meet new people who share your interest and activities. |
How do I start a Group?
| Once you have logged into your account you will be on "My Page". Go to the "Groups" tab button and click. Choose the "create a group" tab, then follow the steps to customize it and add videos. |

| If you add your own private video to a Group, you are giving permission for that Group to see your video and it will be viewable to those members. |
My video was added to a Group that I don't want it to be in, how do I remove it?

| This is a friendly community Most of time, if ignored, bad behavior online goes away. If it continues, try to have a friendly discussion with the user and work it out. When all else fails, send Lockerspace an email and we'll try to resolve the matter. |
Another user is annoying me, what should I do?
I keep receiving messages or shared videos from users I don't know, how do I stop that from happening?

How do I add a contact or follow someone?
| To add a contact or follow a member, visit a users' page and click "follow" next to their portrait. |
What happens when I add someone as a contact or follow them?
| When you click on "follow" Lockerspace automatically will place them on your friends list and will allow you to follow their videos. |
What is the difference between adding a contact and following someone's videos?
| Adding someone as a contact let's them know you want them to view your videos. Following someone does not necessarily make you friends, it means you like their videos and would like to view more of their videos when posted. However most people do both. |
Can I add anyone as a contact?
| Yes When you are on "My Page" click the 'Friends" tab and fill out the necessary information. |
Can I block someone from adding me as a contact or following me?
| Yes, go to your "Friends" tab and change the required settings. |
Why should I add people as contacts or allow them to follow me?
| This is a friendly community and a social video site. By adding contacts and allowing followers, you are creating fans and becoming fans of other members. Why wouldn't you? |
Is there a limit on the number of contacts I can have?
| There is no limit! The more contacts or followers you have could slow your page load times significantly, and interfere when you upload videos, so try to keep them under 500. |
If I remove someone from my contacts are they notified?
| No, there is no notification when someone decides to remove a contact. |
LOCKERSPACE GUIDELINES
I have concerns about something I've seen on the site. What can I do?
| You must be a member to notify us of any violations. If you encounter a video that you are concerned about, or think does not follow our Term of Use, use the 'flag this video' link located in the lower right side under any video. Choose from the options that best fit your reason from flagging the video. Flagging a video will bring it to the attention of Lockerspace and we will review it. |
I've found my videos on someone else's website and don't want them there, what do I do?
| First you need to check the settings on the video. If you do not want this to happen make sure to mark it as "private" and do not allow "embedding" or "downloading". We recommend contacting the site administrator and asking them nicely to remove your videos. |
What are the system requirements to use Lockerspace?
| Lockerspace requires a fairly fast internet connection and computer to load and view videos. Any computer made within the last three years should work fine on Lockerspace, but there will always be times when you may experience difficulties loading and playing videos. |
The site is going crazy! The features are not working!
| Try, try, and try again! If you still are experiencing problems, try holding down the shift button on your keyboard and pushing the reload button on your browser. | To clear cache in your browser hold done the shift page and reload the page. This method resets the information about that page stored in your browser. |
